There are no interior rattles and nothing has fallen apart. The electronics still work great, all of the automatic windows except for one still go up and down and the radio still works. The car accelerates quickly and can get up to a very quick speed.

There is a lot of space in the back compartment for storage, like a lot of space. You can fit a lot of things in there and it's very useful if you have a lot of luggage to bring somewhere. The fuel economy isn't great it only get between 15 and 17 miles per gallon even no matter how I drive it, though it did get 23 on the very long road trip to and from Michigan. Another con is that the car is somewhat top heavy so it seems not very stable when turning and I worry that if I turn too quickly it might flip over.
Also the wheel bearing are very hard to replace on this vehicle, there is some sort of little key piece in the bearing that is very hard to take out, it took me a good 3 hours to get it out for whatever reason. Overall 1. When I bought it, it was already 15 yrs. At the time of purchase, I felt that it drove outstandingly well and that the interior was amazing, given it's age.
Could have cared less about the 4x4 aspect of it, as I am not into those activities, proved to be useful in my 8th year of owning it when it snowed. The car had the space I needed to take my entire family on outings without the feeling of being cramped. Plus, it held all the geared required and the two dogs. I love that it came with a tow hitch already on it. When I hauled my 4x8 trailer filled with various yard debris, it didn't with out complaint.
I hate the fact that it is a Ford. My past experience with this brand is not stable. Every Ford I have ever owned was a crappy car. I bough I have a Ford explorer that I hate. I bought this car knowing that eventually I was going to have some sort of issue, not including normal wear tear of the vehicle. I was so right on so many levels. The gentleman told me, after I paid him, that this had been his elderly father's car, and he only drove six miles a day, two-three times a week.
With in the first month, we had some sort of electronic issue that the mechanic fixed quick enough.
Then after a smidge over a year, just about everything went bad at once. Starter, alternator, and water pump. A few months later, it was an enormous water leak from the heads. Ended up having to rebuild the top part of the motor before two years of ownership had passed.
Every year since , we have had to have major repairs done it.
PRESERVES OF THE MAINE COAST
It has a check engine light on, been on for three years, and a certified mechanic can't find what is sending the code. We have changed stuff that the codes sent with no help. I hate it! Teaching my adult son on how to drive in the snow. In Oregon, we don't get much snow in my area. He has only had a license for four years, so I took him to an empty parking lot.
Took vehicle out of 4x4 mode and put him in the seat. He drove for hours learning how to correct skids, slides, and spinning tires. Then we put it back into 4x4 mode, and he learned how that felt compared to with out i Then we put it back into 4x4 mode, and he learned how that felt compared to with out it. It made him realize that a vehicle that doesn't have 4x4 is a lot scarier to drive in snow and ice; he drives a Kia Sportage.
Large enough for family, dogs and cargo.
Towing capabilities. Air conditioning.
